Feel like home
Whether you visit us in the summer to enjoy the coolness of the stone-walled farmhouse when it’s hot outside or in the colder months to sip from a glass of wine by the crackling fire (wood provided) after a refreshing walk or a bike ride, Maison de la rivière is a home away from home for all seasons.
A room of one’s own
Our three tastefully-decorated double-bedrooms sleep six people, but up to eight people can sleep in the cottage, thanks to the comfortable sofa-bed in the garden room. Our bedrooms come furnished with a small writing desk making them perfect for, say, artist retreats.
Plenty of socialising space
The two siting rooms and the spacious kitchen offer enough space for socialising and relaxation, especially if you are in a group containing children (nothing wrong with a bit of separation between adults and kids, right?). We are particularly proud of our garden room, which we recommend utilising as a reading and relaxation room. It comes equipped with a book library that we have carefully curated for a variety of moods and inspirations.
A touch of luxury
We thought you wouldn’t mind a touch of indulgence after a day of fun by the river, walking your soles away in the footsteps of Saint Jacques de Compostela or visiting charming villages; and that’s why we created a bathroom with a hint of luxury in mind. Enjoy a refreshing shower or take a long bath to unwind. It’s both practical and romantic (yes, the bathtub may fit two, but you didn’t hear it from us).
A terrace with a view
A large terrace with a view to the river is just the perfect spot for a barbecue or an al fresco dinner, or for lounging with a book in your hands on a quiet afternoon. The terrace is also large enough for a medium-sized yoga class, if you may consider the property for yoga retreats.
We are surrounded by 10 acres of land and we have our very own access to the river for you to swim or fish. A quiet road connects us to the next village, whose church tower can be seen from the bottom of our field. We recommend going for a walk towards the church in the evening to enjoy a splendid sunset and coming back by the river for a swim.
